Quite a contrast to the slog over the moors last weekend. This Sunday I felt good all the way round the Hertfordshire countryside for the Fairlands Valley Challenge. I've run this one 3-4 times before and route knowledge helped immensely, barely having to look at the directions. The last section out of Watton at Stone was totally new and an improvement, avoiding the old main road section, but still with a long climb on tired legs.
This race has grown over the years and there were always a lot of runners and walkers on the course, with multiple distances, adding to a good atmosphere. I was surprised just how many runners kept going off course, passing me only to pass me again later.
Marathon #52, finished in 4:12:30.
