Hot on the heels of the Clun Valley Challenge yesterday, I drove across to the Peak District for another lovely marathon. The Leaden Boot Challenge wasn't for the fainthearted. After a warm up down hill out of the village of Alstonefield, the route crossed the River Dove for a lung bursting ascent, before dropping back down to the river and staight up the other side of the valley. This set a pattern for the rest of the run, with relentless big hills. The stunning views made it worthwhile, but I was too tired to write up any more after this one.
Marathon #48 for me in 6:06, an hour slower than yesterday, but I'm not complaining for two hilly marathons in two days. The checkpoints and marshals along the route provided great support.
